What lies within?

My quirky 13-year-old collects quotes … her phone is filled with wise words from Dr. Seuss to Kurt Cobain. So when I settled in to contemplate a New Year’s blog I stole her phone and scrolled through her collection of inspirations.

Emerson’s words leapt off the screen at me. A perfect jump start to my blog because it’s so darn true… every day, every hour, every minute is precious, and while we can’t stop time passing, we can live in each of these moments as our true selves, doing the things that we love to do with the people we love to do it with.

Figuring out what lies within was my personal challenge in 2014 as I worked to build a business. I didn’t change me, I figured me out.

Your brand, whether personal or business, is that nugget. What lies within? Once you nail that, the easy step is telling that story to the world.

So on this New Year’s Day, listen to Emerson. Put aside your regrets from the past year and resolutions for the year to come. And contemplate: What lies within?

Let’s tell your story.

Happy New Year!

With gratitude,

Shannon Larkins

Hi I’m Shannon, founder of Blackcoffee Studio. A former reporter, spin doctor and politico, I now focus on using my powers for good.

I create mighty brands for clients and share their stories with the world. I’m also rather addicted to my nutty family, dogs with pushed in faces, Mexico and of course coffee … black.
