You’ve got talent, but do you have something to say?

“Talent comes everywhere, but having something to say and a way to say it, to have people listen to it, that’s a whole other bag. And unless you get out and you try to do it, you’ll never know.”

Jackson Maine, A Star is Born

When I watched the movie trailer for A Star is Born for the first time, my eyes leaked and goosebumps crept up my arms. The stunning beauty of the images, the haunting music and words … I was consumed. I immediately booked tickets to opening night and was mesmerized from the beginning to bittersweet end. Since then I’ve read the articles, watched the interviews, listened to the music and, of course, played the movie … over and over again.

I don’t know why or when this story got so deeply under my skin. There’s something about the determination of Bradley Cooper – the man behind this piece of art – and his refusal to leave anything to chance, and his willingness to take a chance. He convinced Warner Bros. to bet on a first-time director (Cooper), a first-time actor (Gaga) and a musician (also Cooper) who had never actually performed before … all the while making the FOURTH remake of a well-loved story possibly past its prime.

But Bradley did it. He reinvented the story and created magic. It was a dance choreographed to total perfection – a story exactingly and exquisitely told through visuals, words, music. And yes, at times I thought I could smell the booze coming off Jackson Maine.

Bradley Cooper had something to say and found a way to say it that made people listen. He crafted one heck of an emotional connection through this achingly beautiful movie. And I believe that’s how you get people to listen. Nothing is more powerful than saying your something by telling a gorgeous, courageous and emotionally connected story.

This is what I strive to do with my craft – creating brands for my clients – digging deep, not leaving anything to chance, but not being afraid to take a chance. It’s about making audiences feel all those feels.

Everyone has a talent, but it takes courage to tell your true story. Are you ready?

With gratitude,

Some of my favourite moments are spent in search of something beautiful while I drink my first cup of coffee and hear the house wake up. From there I move on to the paper and the news of the day. In this space, I’ll share some of those inspirations.
